MAN CHARGED WITH KIDNAPPING EX-GIRLFRIEND.(CAPITAL REGION)

A 31-year-old Montgomery County man faces several felony charges after he allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend and drove her into Vermont and back into New York while a trooper negotiated with him on a cell phone, State Police said.

The daylong odyssey began just before 10 a.m. Monday, when Clark Shepard III of Sprakers appeared at the Schoharie County home of his 35-year-old former girlfriend. Troopers said the woman tried to escape by running to a neighbor's home but that Shepard chased her down and threatened to shoot her if she didn't get into his car.
