Mixing paper pulp with fish residuals

The County of Oswego, New York, located on Lake Ontario, is a center for salmon fishing in the East, attracting sports enthusiasts during fall "runs" up the Oswego and Salmon rivers. Catches are taken to commercial fish cleaning stations, which charge a $2 processing fee. The salmon steaks are returned to the fishermen, and the innards are placed in drums. For years, these drums were picked up by haulers who sorted out the valuable fish eggs and landfilled the remaining materials.
